Alvin Teh is a graduate with a Masters in Statistics who is passionate in educational innovation. With over two years of experience lecturing in Oklahoma State University, Alvin has gained a vast interest in exploring various methods to deliver effective education in Malaysia. He strongly believes that applied statistical knowledge is the key to succeed in today’s fast-changing world which decision-making is driven by Big Data.
The hands-on experiences Alvin has accumulated teaching statistics in one of the top 100 public universities in the U.S. serve as valuable tools for him to innovate effective methods to teach applied statistics. He has worked with students from various academic disciplines: finance and accounting, actuarial science, agriculture, medicine, etc. Alvin’s resilience and persistence in the innovative delivery methods while teaching statistics have gained recognition amongst the faculty members as well as the administrator of the university. He was the statistical analyst intern with the Executive Director of Global Affairs and the Vice President of Student Affairs at the university.
His passion continued to be his driving force to serve as the President of International Student Council, Statistics Club, and others while pursuing his tertiary education in the U.S. He was also awarded the Outstanding Leader award at the University of Central Oklahoma.
