Dato’ Zuraidah Atan
Chairman, Student Volunteers Foundation
Dato’ Zuraidah Atan holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (LLB) from University of Buckingham, England. She is a member of the Malaysian Bar. She is currently in legal practice with her own legal firm, Chambers of Zuraidah Atan since year 2004. Starting her career as an officer in a bank, she has more than 25 years’ experience in the banking & financial industry. She also served for a period as President/CEO of Affin Merchant, an investment bank. She was the first woman Director of HSBC Bank Malaysia & has served on Boards of Financial Institutions such as Bank Rakyat & MBSB and currently serving as a Non-Executive Director and Public Interest Director of Bursa Malaysia.
She is also Chairman, Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa / Students Volunteer Foundation, a wholly-owned entity of Government of Malaysia (via Ministry of Higher Education) with the objective of building Global Volunteer Leaders. She has been instrumental in successfully spearheading selected Student Volunteers from institutions of higher learning to do hard volunteer work in Vietnam, Laos, Sarawak & Sabah and other areas since inception in 2012 as capacity building initiatives of students for the nation.
She also serves as an Honorary Advisor to National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), a non-governmental organisation engaged in cancer awareness and charity. She successfully led the NCSM team to win the International Bid to host the UICC World Cancer Congress Kuala Lumpur 2018.
She is Chairman, Relay For Life Malaysia, a Cancer Awareness annual event in support of cancer survivorship.
She is also Chairman, IATSS Forum Japan (Malaysia), an entity under Honda Foundation that sends young professionals annually to Japan for professional leadership training.
Dato’ Zuraidah Atan is an arbitrator in the KL Regional Centre for Arbitration and was a member of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s Consultative and Corruption Prevention Panel. She is also on the Board of Directors of Petron Malaysia, SP Setia Berhad, Kenanga Islamic Investors Berhad, Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad and Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Clearing Berhad and recently retired as Director, NCB Holdings Berhad & Northport Malaysia Berhad.
She is a former student of Tunku Kurshiah College (TKC).
